An Opening Night Shopping Tradition

When I was in school, my Scene Design mentioned a practice with which I am becoming increasingly intrigued:
every time she had a show opening in the evening, that day she would go out and get a haircut and a new outfit.

For my own situation, I might tweak that a bit. Working with textiles destroys my hands; once the costumes are all ready, I would love a manicure. And, although my theatre schedule is too erratic to depend in for my haircuts, a new outfit for opening would be a fun tradition. (Here in The Great Northwest ANYTHING nearly anything is appropriate to wear to the theatre.)

This same professor got me hooked on another “tradition” (we Mielkes prefer that term to the word “addiction”): Amazon Prime. Use this link to find out about Amazon Student.

I have been thinking alot lately about how to make shopping less of a chore. Thoughts?

  1. I once read of a woman, who said of her approach to shopping: I don’t shop. I drop into stores from time to time to see if they have anything for me.

I think the wisdom of her approach is that it takes the pressure off. It’s an approach I’d like to adopt. Instead, I . . . just don’t shop.
