For traveling, I plan to wear some variation of the outfit pictured – shoes that slip off and on easily – with my big wool coat over.
Hopefully my friend will take a few pictures that I can post from Italy. 🙂

Hello, I’m a long time reader/lurker and this is my first time posting. I like your traveling outfit…but do you think jeans are comfortable for a long flight? I dislike the way jeans bag and sag on my body even after a short car trip. Maybe I don’t have the right jeans or right body LOL. I hope you have a great time in Italy!
Personally, I’m going to Asia next month and I am looking for tips on what to wear for a long 13(!) hour flight. I’m thinking about wearing leggings, a long sleeve tunic and comfortable ballet slippers. I’ll also be packing a light jacket and my travel blanket. Do you think I’ll get too chilly in my outfit? It’s been a long time since I have been on an airplane.
Maya, your choices and mine are very similar. I’m going to Australia next week, and I’m wearing a stretch cotton shirt dress over leggings, like Rebecca slip on flats, and a metallic suede jacket.
I’ve worn jeans from Canada to Italy (and back again) and they were most comfortable. But for the extra distance, I’m opting for leggings this time around.

Actually, since I got this picture taken, I have decided to change the pants for my new black ones. They are a softer, lighter fabric and the pockets are better; the back ones button. But I’m so accustomed to wearing jeans, I think I wouldn’t have any trouble being very comfortable in them even for traveling. My daughter isn’t bringing anything but jeans.
That said, I think you should wear the leggings and tunic. I had considered doing something like that and the main reason I didn’t had more to do with what I currently own that’s working well for me than anything else. Also, where we are going, the weather looks to be about 10 degrees cooler than normal for this time of year, meaning that it will still be winter when we land. Wendy is doing leggings and dresses, if I remember right, for her trip to Australia.
I will try to post regarding the temperature comfort on the plane. Both of my daughters traveled internationally last year and I think, based on what they said, that being cold on the plane is a genuine concern for me. But I run cold anyway. Even so, I will be going sockless with these flats, because they fit and stay on my feet that way, but they are easy to take off for going through security.

Cute shoes! I just bought a similar pair at Sears for spring and am very glad I did. They’ve been so comfy, and the perfect complement to my light spring skirts.
When traveling, I wear the heaviest shoes that I’m bringing so that I can pack more stuff into my suitcase. Usually that means I’m wearing a pair of boots, which does help keep my feet warm (and thus the rest of me). For clothes, I prefer jersey wrap dresses for ultimate comfort, or a shirt/skirt combo.
I got several compliments on the shoes and was really happy with how comfortable they were and how they worked for stripping down to go through security. The black pants were quite comfortable, but I can certainly imagine that a dress or whatever would be great.
Meg- before we had to take our shoes off to go through security, I did exactly what you do. It seems sensible.

Yeah, security can be hell. I’ve had more problems with hair accessories than my boots, though, lol.
