Teen Style Tuesday: Is Texting on the Job Okay?

RUKDng?

Some things are so obvious, they don’t even make the texting etiquette list.  Texting while allegedly working is one of them.

I wouldn’t have thought to mention it, except that I just returned from the grocery where I saw not one, but TWO otherwise attractive young ladies wasting their employer’s time text messaging.

Disloyalty, aka stealing, is never attractive.

  1. I agree. There is nothing more annoying then going to one of the two tiny grocery stores in our town and having the teenage cashiers look so annoyed that we are interupting their texting time (or dinner). It’s obnoxious!

  2. That’s a new one. I’ve seen employees talking, but not texting. But it doesn’t surprise me.

To Carrie, on dinner – perhaps it could be that they aren’t really getting a meal break at that time? I might be annoyed too, although I think I’d try not to show it. 🙂

  3. Well, the governator is taking on some text messaging issues: Teens under 18 not allowed to TM — WHILE DRIVING!! Imagine not cutting it off at 19….. Why not 90?

  4. I work with a very nice girl in high school. We are waitresses at a local burer night at the legion. She is a great worker but has trouble putting away her cell phone for the hole 4 hours that we work a week. It is very rude and disrespectful espically to the seinor citizens who are patiently waiting for food. Hey everyone i love to txt to there is no bdoubt abut it but there is a time and a place and work is not one of them.
