Knee-length Shorts Under $20

Is anyone having trouble viewing the links to comments here? Jenn emailed yesterday that they had disappeared, and today she says they are still not there. I’m having no trouble. But more importantly, does anyone know how to fix it? Please email if you are unable to comment.

Over the past several days I have been in more “new” stores (as opposed to thrift) than I have been in months. That’s okay. Shopping avoidance can only take one so far in the quest for a workable wardrobe.

The short list (stealth pun alert) of places where I’ve found short-sleeved pants (it makes them sound dressier than does “bermuda shorts”) for $19.99 or less:

  • JCPenney
  • Nordstrom Rack
  • Costco

In order to hit mid-knee on me, the inseam must be between 12″ and 13 1/2″. Old Navy had some nice ones for around $25. I did not make it to Target; but by the looks of their online store, that would also be a good alternative.

Thank you to Cathy, who left the following helpful comment:

I just wanted to let you know that these short sleeved pants look good even on plus sized girls! I’m size 18 and I feel comfy in these and they flatter even us big and beautiful women! :)

Any other shops you’d like to mention?

  1. How fun! I can’t wait to try them on! Thanks for cutting out of some the work for me and telling me where to find them!

Cool that they’re flattering on a variety of body shapes!

  2. Hey! I just found your website a couple days ago by googling (yes, I think you guessed it) modest swimwear. 🙂 (I saw somewhere else that Modest Swimwear was your most googled post ever.) This is such an interesting blog! It’s cool to see some of the stuff you’re saying, as I have pretty much no fashion sense. Your color plans are interesting… I’ve never really been able to figure out the whole season thing. As stupid as this sounds, I really can never decide which season I’m supposed to fit in… maybe I just don’t know enough about it. 😉

The funny thing about colors is that people always tell me I look good in pink. Being a redhead, I’ve always thought pink was the one color I was supposed to stay far, far away from… do you think it’s the pinkish colors of my skins that lets me wear pink?

And I’m kind of curious what you meant about matching colors with your eye colors. I have blue eyes, and I’ve found that most of my clothes are blue. But do you think eye colors should only be used as accents, or can they go as the whole color scheme of an outfit? Of course, I happen to be 100% terrible at matching colors, so most of my outfits are monochromatic anyways.

This is kind of a long comment, and it has nothing to do with your post here… sorry about that!

  3. Welcome Mary Beth! Thanks for your kind comments.

About the season thing: if you really want to know, you probably can figure it out from Doris Pooser’s Color Me Beautiful book. But it isn’t really important. My redheaded daughter has very fair skin with alot of pink showing through and she also looks good in pink (she does, however, avoid red). I’m going to guess you are safer with a coral pink than a purpley one.

Here’s the thing about your coloring (without knowing you, so of course you get to decide whether this works or not): red hair and blue eyes; that’s alot of color. All blue outfits are fine, they probably look good since blue is the compliment of orange (red and brown hair are both variations of orange). But it might be boring. If you wanted to, you could probably wear multiple colors together.

  4. That is entirely strange. I was about to ask you if you could get to the comments by going to the post’s individual page, do you know if they were there then?

Anyway, I have been having a little trouble on this end, but yesterday I got it straightened out. Other than minor tweaking, the sidebars are now acceptable; I can move on to the next blog challenge. YAY!
