Announcing This Week’s Fashion Lab!

Each and every Monday morning my first order of business (after coffee and email, of course) is thrifting. Value Village, our most stylish thrift store, opens at 9 am and runs a 99 cent color tag sale on Mondays. Depending on what you’re after, there are piles of deals to be had!

Today, though, I didn’t find anything. That’s okay. I take that as indicative of the fact that I don’t need much, which is good. But, since dd needed shoes, we stopped at another thrift store before hitting Mocha Monday (99 cent mochas, right on the way home!).

So here’s my rant concerning the second thrift store:

This store is under the umbrella of a local ministry of the HIGHEST caliber, serving the homeless in our community. In my mind, the people who support it do so out of devotion to Christ and sincere desire to help those less fortunate. These are my peers, my friends.

So what’s the problem?

The sheer volume of GARBAGE hanging on the racks there! Who do these people think they are helping by donating this stuff? In all fairness, the ministry does allow its residents to select first from the donations, but still …

And the solution?

Well, we’ll get to that. But I think it has its roots in our closet cleaning practices.

Which brings me to this week’s Fashion Lab topic: Should I keep it?

If you would like to play along with me, take some pictures of items you aren’t sure about, post them on your blog, and send me the link. I will try to post mine late Thursday, since I like the alliteration of Friday Fashion Lab.

Here’s something to get you started. This cute outfit from Jaysun Brunsdon, Coutorture photo, reminds me of a jumper. Which reminds me that those old corduroy mini-jumpers need to be retired. Now.

Any questions?
