  1. Check out the flip flop shaped tan on the top of the feet!

The part of this outfit I liked best – hard to see in picture – is that the color arrangement of the beads (with some “gaps” from transparent ones) echoes the gaps in the rows of the faggoting.

  2. Thanks for the link Rebecca!

For those heading over, I just want to say I’m not a skirts only person. I just can’t find any decent pants that look nice and fit my bee-hind. A wretched combination! lol

Sewing a decent pair of pants is harder than you think… : p

  3. oh… prices.

Capris – baggier in picture as on a repeat wearing, Family Dollar $13

  4. Rebecca, thanks for the link to Janel. I loved looking at her outfits and reading her blog.
Did you notice that the length of her skirt worked so very well with higher vamp (“full”) shoes? For me, it did. I’ve been wondering about shorter but I see it’s longer!

And now that I recall that dress I’m wearing was a $5 sale. It’s so cute in real life – I sometimes wear the white self tie or just loose as a shift – that I went back and bought another in the white and one in the khaki. I wear them for errands, shopping, housework and sleeping!

  5. I also liked the longer length of Janel’s skirts. But then I’ve never been much for short skirts. And I honestly don’t understand why people cling to them so hard. But then, who can account for all the variables that go in to personal idiom?

I’ve always thought it was because I have full thighs that I didn’t like shorter skirts, but I’m starting to think there’s also something more subtle concerning proportion. If I measure out my headlengths, my rise is very long, my upper leg short, and my lower leg an inch long. Which is all covered with a below-the-knee skirt.

  6. L.O.V.E. Vildy’s outfit! I would totally wear something like that! I love the capris under the dress, and have been wanting to try that, but none of my dresses are the right type. Sigh…I guess I’ll just have to keep my eyes open for something that would work.

Off to check out the link the Janel’s…

  7. Vildy, I like your brown capris. They would fit right into my current brown phase. Now if I could only find a pair that fit correctly. {sigh}

I’ve played with skirt length for years. I’ve found for my proportions, skirts have to either be just above ankle length, like the two in the photos, or just above the knee. There is no inbetween. If a skirt falls anywhere inbetween, it throws my proportions all out of whack and I don’t look good. I can’t seem to make them work.

Talking of long and short… Cute story, I only have one short skirt in my closet these days. It’s a flirty black stretch velvet with a bit of a trumpet at the bottom. It hits me just above the knee. Although I haven’t worn it since last winter, I had it on for church two Sundays ago with white tights and a great pair of suede pumps that have a vintage feel to them. My girlfriend pretty much summed it up when she said, “Oh my gosh! I don’t think I’ve ever seen your legs before!” rotflol So can you tell how often I wear short skirts?? lol

  8. Nice color combination, Vildy. Does anyone know where a good place to look for bermudas is? I need to get some before they go out entirely, so I can wear them with dresses too!

Rebecca, surely you know where I should look (I rarely go into the mall because of my kiddos’ ages, but the weekend is soon approaching…

  9. bonnie…I got my bermudas at Ann Taylor Loft (okay, so most of my wardrobe is from their sale rack). Anyhow, I see a couple of pairs on their site, but they generally have a better selection in the stores.

  10. not Rebecca, but I remember she got some nice ones at Penney’s and they have a sale starting tomorrow? and through Oct 3. In store and online. Here’s a coupon code they sent:
    YEAREM

I’ve liked the quality – and the affordable sale prices – and the old-fashioned cheery and helpful saleswomen at my local Fashion Bug. And they carry misses and plus, too.

I hate malls but went late in winter clearance looking for replacement gloves. Figured they would be the only ones left with old (winter) merchandise. All the large stores were totally cleared out. So I had luck in one small store there. Far cry from the old year-round bargain basement days.
