A reader asks:

How do I wear a high waisted skirt?

This is a great opportunity to illustrate length balancing. Allowing for individual differences, the length from shoulder to waist is approximately 2 (head lengths) and the length from waist to knee 3. Keep in mind the goal is always to have your ratio (of one color or pattern to the other) be either 3 to 5 or 2 to 3.

  1. Haha, Rebecca, that’s no fair! I myself admitted to having difficulties with the shoes and coloring and ack. I do love your help with proportions and ratios, I always have to eyeball it. Could you maybe show more pics of do’s and dont’s? I remember visuals better than numbers, what can I say.

  2. Talk about not fair — do you realize I am on dial-up? Okay, but for you I’ll see what I can do …

Thanks so much for the comment, at least I know somebody got it. BTW, I personally would “yes” that outfit with your challenging shoes.

See? I’ve been thinking about you.

  3. […] I got no comments on the post about high waisted skirts, I’m wondering whether the whole length balancing thing is boring you. Shall I give some more […]

  4. […] I like the high waisted look in this picture. […]
