My Glamorous Color

One of the problems with thinking so theoretically about wardrobe is the difficulty in realizing one’s ideal conceptual wardrobe. Sometimes it is just not possible to find the very needed thing, much less at a bargain price.

Extra 15% off Women’s apparel. Select styles. With code WOMENS15 at Kohls.com!

On the flip side, however, is the advantage of knowing when to jump on an opportunity and the serendipity of things working together.  Like my recent hat purchase. In my idiom, a wool hat is more or less a hands-free umbrella (which I actually end up carrying if it doesn’t rain) and, sure enough, it ends up being roughly the same color as my paisley, rubber, cowboy boots.  And my sateen trench.  Frustrating, though, is the fact that said trench, while exceedingly glamorous-looking, is not actually functional; as in, I get SOAKED when I wear it.  The hero has promised to Scotch Guard it, if he could only find his round-to-it 😉

The suggestion that all this brings to mind is a riff on David Zyla’s color system:

Select a color or colors to be your glamorous color. Good, but not the only, choices are your formal neutral or your dramatic color.

I can see many women choosing black. Less common glamorous colors might be white, red, or midnight blue. Mine is aubergine. What’s yours? 🙂
