Update: Noticing a need for some jewelry specifically to complete color harmonies near my face, I am adding a week for accessories to the end of my makeover schedule. To the end, because I still think it’s more important to not be naked than to be properly accessorized! Here at the bottom of the fashion food chain, not being naked is a priority. LOL
Since I’m presently staring down what could arguably be my busiest week of the year, I would love to have your help: any of you who are playing along and would like to submit a guest post or who have written something about your own “comeback”, please email me with either a post, some pictures, a link to your own post, or whatever. Thanks!
So far, I have brought my scale back into my bathroom and been walking almost everyday. My nails are growing, but not yet manicured and my cuticles are dry and cracked. I have my appointment for my haircut next week. Shopping for a magnifying mirror (for plucking my eyebrows) had been unsuccessful, but I scored on the trench. And after biffing a bag full of stuff, I’m still appreciating the fact that I hardly shopped at all last year, especially during the fall when I was costuming a show. Now I will be able to test how really concise a wardrobe I can build.
I’m still having fun! How about you?
Well, my semi-official first post is up. Leave a link to yours, if you write one, in the comments of this post or email it to me. If you have no blog, but would like to post before pictures or write a guest post, or whatever, send it on in! If I get some links (by 9 pm PDST, Wednesday August 27), I will publish them carnival-style on Thursday.
Here’s my tentative topic line-up:
- August 22 – 28: the big picture
- August 29- Sept 4: weight loss/physical fitness
- September 5th – 11th: scheduled maintenance
- September 12th – 18th: hair
- September 19th -25th: fall wardrobe
- September 26th – Oct 2nd: the face
- October 3rd -9th:
the big day!accessories - October 10th-16th: putting it all together for the big event(s)
How does that look?
Again, I say, this is going to be so much fun!
Fun, yes; but I’m not sure I’m that brave.
I’m looking forward to what you write. Since I’m turning 30 this fall, and also just had a new baby, it’s time for me to reassess as well. I won’t be blogging it, but I am in the process of changing some things.
I’ve been growing my hair out and got some long layers this summer, since I figure I can only pull off the long, flowing hair look for a few more years. (I hear long layers are in style among younger people? That’s what a NYC girl told me, and I think she’d know.)
I’m also on an exercise/losing baby weight road. Speaking of, I should go work out now…
The face: need help.
Fall fashion: definitely need help. I don’t even know what is in this fall. I need a stylish mom uniform. Are layered tops still in style? I’m thinking with nice jeans, a couple jackets, heeled boots and maybe some feminine athletic type shoes and a pair of ballet flats? That seems like it should do it for a variety of situations–basically everything casual (which would include church for me). But I might be 100% wrong!
From what I remember about your style idiom, you should stick with the long, flowing hair as long as possible. I have friends my age with classic/romantic style personalities who still wear long layers very well. 🙂
And it sounds like you have a very workable concept for your stylish mom uniform. I even ran it past the ladies and they responded that you “have it nailed”. The other type of top I have noticed liking recently, but it isn’t as easy, is a woven button-up with a stand-up type collar and a waist. Very crisp and romantic looking. I’ll try to find a pic. 🙂
Kinda like this
Studded Chiffon Blouse
.
Oh yes! My friend with a similar idiom to mine wore one of those the other day. Love it!
And it’s encouraging to hear that I’m headed in the right direction in regards to style. Thanks for the input! 🙂
Hi Rebecca and friends. I don’t have a website and I don’t blog, but I’ve been reading you for almost a year. I also turn 45 this fall and I finished reading his makeover book just before you wrote about it. I also homeschool and have a fascination with having God fill out my wardrobe through Salvation army and Goodwill (After all He knows how to dress his princess better than anyone right? If He wants me to pay only $2.99 for perfectly fitting Banana Republic pants, I’ll just praise Him all the more) I am on a spending freeze right now but am along for the ride by shopping in my closet the things he’s already supplied for this fall. Looking forward to mutual encouragement across the miles.
