Homesickness

I think I’m Italian.  That is, there are alot of things about the life and culture here that I prefer, not the least of which is their style.  But I digress.  The real reason for this post is just personal.  I’m having a great time, but today I started to get homesick.

No doubt it would be worse if my daughter hadn’t been able to come with me.  No doubt it would be better if I hadn’t accidentally hit the capslock key when I was trying to log in to facebook, persisting too many times, and ended up getting locked out.  I’m not certain I will be able to conquer that beast before I get back to Spokane.

Facebook friends, if you see this “note”, pop on over to the blog (betweenmypeers.com) and say ‘hi’!

So, what is this melancholy we call homesickness?  How do you experience it?

  1. I think I should have been Italian, too. 😉 Glad you’re having a great time (how could you not?) Are you sure that was homesickness, or just too much great Italian food?

  2. You guys crack me up! 😉

I’m afraid that my homesickness is really self-centeredness. I am away from most of the people who care the most about my opinions AND I am out of the environment where I am the boss. 😉 That said, it could be alot worse. My friends are super hospitable and easy to be with (and their kids are really well-behaved).

And, Chrs, you bring up a good point. I’m not having any more moments of melancholy here than I would at home. I’m sure if my whole family were here, I wouldn’t want to go home either! 🙂

  3. Are you kidding me? I’m homesick even when I’m in hospital (that’s because I’m gonna be, soon, my due date soon approaches)! But I’m more family-sick than anything else. I love discovering lots of new places and meeting new people, if I’d have my family with me (like you have your daughter), everything would be perfect!

have fun, don’t let that bring you clouds on that beautiful european sky!
