Try this tip from an ancient magazine clipping:
your best shade of red – and a marvelous choice for a blusher – is the color you see when you pinch your fingertip
(I keep trying, but so far I’m not seeing a red.)
Also, remember this tip from readers here:
choose your red lipstick to match the color of your lips when chapped

Ha! That reminds me of the time I had severely chapped lips while camping, and was complimented on my lip colour. No lipstick, just chapped! 🙂
I’ve always heard that the best place to colour-check lipstick (if you don’t want to smear it on your lips in the store – icky!) is on the tip of the pinkie finger.
I was interested to see that Paula Begoun, Cosmetic Cop, in her year end review of the Best of 07 featured 3 ELF products, including a lip gloss. Don’t remember what specifically, just that it was fruit flavored.
I once heard that your best lip stick color was the shade of your tongue.
Which, I have to admit, was a pretty flattering color on me!
That makes sense. And sticking your tongue out is so much easier than pinching your fingertip!
