Ah yes, I am still buried in crinolines and calico (working non-stop on Little Women costumes), thus quality blogging is on the back burner for the time being.
But still, I like these new boot cut jeans from Gap. I was curious which I would think looked better, the boot cuts or the skinnies. Too bad I can’t get them side by side. Victory is mine!
I think I like both.
Update: dcrmom wondered what was different about the new bootcut. So do I. Even before Gap came out with their curvy cut (Women: Curvy boot cut jeans – medium tint), it was obvious that some of their fits worked with – shall we call them “athletic”? – thighs and others didn’t. Below left is the classic bootcut and right is long and lean. If my suspicions are correct, between the two of these, Trinnys wear the classic and Susannahs wear the long and lean. Not certain about the above. Thoughts?
Definitely the bootcuts!
Posting again cause I have to add that the skinnies make the legs look about a foot shorter. For long and lean, the bootcuts are much better!
Also a bootcut fan! The first thing I noticed was how much taller the model on the left appeared. Also partial to bootcuts simply because I have too much “baggage” for the skinnies!
I like both. On that model. LOL. On me? The bootcuts.
So those are NEW Gap bootcuts? I’m in the market for a new pair of jeans. I want a dark wash the length to wear with flats. I was going to go back to my tried and true Lucky Brand Store, but maybe I should try the new Gap ones.
What’s different about these bootcuts? The only Gap jeans I’ve liked in recent years (since they changed all their styles) is the Long and Leans.
Oh, by the way, the pictures are side-by-side on my Bloglines preview screen. Wish I knew how to take a screen shot for you!
Note to self: Get thee to a Gap and buy a pair of those gorgeous bootcuts!
Here’s my .02 analysis on what looks better –
I think the bootcuts look better – and I think I may have a rationale – the way the leg goes IN to the knee and back out at the thigh makes the knee look skinny in reference to the other places, whereas the skinnies make the hips look wider in comparison to rest of leg – even on teeny headless gap model-girl here. Your eye is drawn to the part that is in contrast with the majority of the pant – on the bootcut it’s the slender knee – on the skinny, it’s the hip.
I got some super cheap and flattering bootcuts at – believe it or not – walmart the other day – they have a trouser hem and cute brown stitching on nicely sized/spaced back pockets and are a super dark wash. $14.86 – their store brand, Faded Glory – and I almost never buy anything but underwear and trouser socks at walmart… shocking. I was looking for the Levi’s signature jeans to find if there were new cuts yet and I was drawn to the dark color- or that’s my story.
depends on the top, I think, too – slim fit top makes hips more prominent, too.
Both are cute–but I’d have to go with the bootcut; they’re more versatile. I can only wear skinnies with a looong tunic top.
Bootcuts.
Um. Trinnys? Susannahs? I’m so lost. LOL.
Sorry. The British What Not to Wear gals: Trinny is the skinny one with saddlebags, Susannah is the busty one. 😉
Hm. What if you are busty AND skinny with saddlebags? 🙂 That would be ME!
That just means you look good in everything. 😉
