If I were going to a first play date, I’d choose this outfit:
- The silhouette. I’m really ready to be back in narrow pants.
- I have more than one gray turtleneck. (In fact, I’m wearing one now.)
- The simplicity of the combination.
- Honestly, until Bonnie mentioned it, I hadn’t even noticed that the shoes were leopard. You might expect that to turn me off, but it didn’t. The fact that the entire outfit was subtly and yet perfectly coordinated … now that is exciting to me!
My second choice was number 4.
Back to a more normal posting schedule soon. 🙂
After someone else suggested this one could be your favorite, I thought the yellow belt had that element of surprise that you have mentioned as an idiom favorite.
I’m kind of afraid to try skinnies after loving my trouser-style jeans. Any suggestions for choosing skinnies?
Also, do you have a post somewhere of how to organize your wardrobe? I’m thinking of something along the lines of what kind/how many types of shoes to own, etc. I want to keep my closet organized and pared down, but don’t know really how to stock it with essentials. Also, how important is quality? If I buy a white shirt, should I buy an expensive white shirt or will a cheap one do?
Yes, except the funny thing is I would have changed out the belt until I realized that it was what made the outfit perfect with the leopard print shoes. Because I’m not crazy about yellow. If I were to wear yellow, though, a belt would be a great way to wear it.
Just to be clear, I think trouser jeans are wonderful. What I’m tired of is boot cut, but then even some of those still look good. I’ll post something about choosing skinnies, because I think it’ll be helpful to a few people.
Check out this post for ideas about how many of things you need: how many jeans does one mom need.
I’ll have to think about some of the rest of those questions. Off the cuff, my preference for a white shirt would be an expensive one, bought inexpensively. Partly due to the stain factor. Black slacks I might feel differently about.
BTW, my target cost per wear for separates is 25 cents. So if I spend $10 for something, I need to be confident that I will wear it at least once a week for a year. Using those figures I’d probably be willing to spend no more than $30 for a white shirt. Make sense?
