I remember when I was a kid, although I don’t remember exactly what age, kinda liking the riding boot look (brown leather, flat soles, very long). Back then, an item like that was far too expensive and too mature for me to consider actually buying, though. Then it slipped from my radar. However, with my birthday coming up soon, I’m wondering if perhaps now is the time to seriously consider investing in a pair. Kinda like these Naturalizer – Women’s Denzel.

Speaking of new things, Carrie is giving away a free personlized children’s book this week at her blog.
Fashion Fit Formula from Mary Beth (aka Miss Kelly), who picked it up from the Boston Globe, saying it reminded her of my Golden Mean Ratio. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Kori at the Fashion-y Blog has a fun idea for a group project. Anybody interested?
One last thing: since I’ve been thinking about costumes, sewing, and so forth, I have been reading Elegant Musings, at Oxanna’s recommendation, I believe. I love the blue walls in her studio! And just the idea of having a studio. Hmmm … I have a room, it just didn’t have a name that stuck. Description: two walls full of hanging space, large desk in the center used for projects, cupboards full of paper and fabrics, etc. Sounds like a studio, doesn’t it?
Just popping up to say thank you for the link to my blog!! I am quite flattered that you read it! 🙂 And thank you for the kind words about my “studio”!
Have a lovely Friday!!
Hi Rebecca,
Every time I have purchased and worn boots they have been riding boots. My most beautiful pair were a winter white in a soft, buttery leather. I own dark brown ones at present. I think I like riding boots best (and in the 70’s I did wear other types!) because I have big calves! No, I am sure it is the plain, no-nonsense style of riding boots.
I just got back from Germany last night and I thought of you and this blog often. After 10 days in Paris and a week in Prague and a week in Germany I have decided that American women are some of the best dressed, prettiest women in the world! I thought I was going to feel like a frump in Paris but I didn’t at all and a pashmina is the best travel accessory one can carry to a climate like Western Europe’s (though we had mostly beautiful weather). I will try to remember to send you some photos of Katie and I when I get them organized (after the house is put back into shape after my time away – with Dillon in charge!). Oh, and Katie bought pashminas for $12 each in Prague — they are every bit as nice and soft as the ones we bought here for 5 times as much!
More later!
Susan
This, from the fashion fit website’s advice to men is very intriguing!
“The secret of choosing the right collar is your jaw line. When standing with your head straight, the opposit collar should be an extension of the line of your jaw.”
Okay, after thinking about that for a long time, I think I get what they mean. I’ll have to check out what my husband does, he’s really super picky about his shirts. By far his favorite collar, and I do like it on him, is the little stand up “collarless” style. But I think that’s because it’s the most like a t-shirt. lol. The only other collar he will wear is the button-down, with the exception of one green paisley point collar.
That is intriguing!
Like an X – The top half of the X is your jaw line. They have a picture of it on their tips for men.
Aren’t the blue walls lovely? I never thought of that color for a wall, but they’re gorgeous!
