Lately I’ve been thinking alot about trying some sewing. (See? Ambika of The Fray made herself a fabulous collared cape!) Anyway, for you sewing nerds (what do I say? “seamstresses”? too professional, “sewers”? that’s something else altogether) – readers who sew – what are your favorite sewing blogs?
I haven’t bought myself a book from Amazon yet, but Damselfly at Growing a Life has reviewed Nina Garcia’s Little Black Book of Style.
Do you speak Spanish? If so, you may want to check out the new blog which showed up in my incoming links: FARANDULA, MODA, DEPORTES otra forma de gozar la vida. Then please come back and tell me what it is.
More introductions:
- readers meet Kristie aka Tkmuskrat, Kristie meet readers.
- homeschooling moms (or those interested), check out Such a Time
Finally, I don’t claim to be a beauty expert, but one thing I do believe in spending money on is Bobbi Brown concealer/foundation.Free Bobbi Brown gift with your $85 purchase. Shop NORDSTROM
Have a great weekend!
Sewing Blogs? Well mine of course silly! If you’re looking to learn, I have a bunch of resources in several of the posts. There is even one post just for beginners and were to start. I tried to answer a lot of common questions. Great frugal ideas too. : )
Being a more advanced sewing person, (yeah, just what am I?) I love to hang out at the Sensiblity sewing forum http://forums.sensiblity.com It’s a great bunch of gals and I’ve learned a lot in the last couple of years. You’ll also find tons of blogs that feature a lot of sewing projects from the members. Great place, great ladies.
About the spanish blog: it’s a blog about show-business, fashion and sports, although from my brief look at it, it seems to be mostly about sports, with a bit of fashion thrown in. Hope that helps!
oh cool! Thanks for linking me 🙂 I have browsed through this site, and its very helpful! I love browsing through everything 🙂 anyway, HI, everyone! 🙂
Janel ~ are you quite sure you don’t want to move to Washington? I will have to check out your sewing archives. I definitely won’t be starting anything before the Awana Fall Leadership Conference, unless it’s costumes. DD auditioned for Little Women and we’re waiting to hear.
Sophia ~ I should have just thought to ask you! Thanks!
Kristie ~ You’re welcome. Welcome to the blog!
Ooh, if you are into clothes and stuff you will enjoy sewing. Unfortunately, I don’t know of any sewing blogs, so I’ll just have to see what you come up with!
Glad you enjoyed my review.
I think it must have been ‘A Dress a Day’ that got me initially interested in sewing. I was hooked on ‘little birds’ until she stopped posting but she mostly handsews and primarily stuffed creatures at that.
Thanks so much for mentioning me and my amateur efforts. I finished a purse this weekend and I have to say, it gets easier and easier with every project.
Too funny about the spanish blog! And how odd with the mostly sports, a little fashion. What a combo!
I wish I could sew…. I have a sewing machine that I haven’t used since I had kids. In my first house I sewed all the curtains. But there’s nothing to curtains. I would never sew clothing or anything that involved anything other than a straight line. lol My friend Melissa sews (not clothing, but she did make me a cool purse!) http://www.justme-melissa.blogspot.com.
Of course, there are The Sewing Divas. Check out their blogroll – very good.
Elegant Musings blogs on crafty sewing and vintage, and she just started an Etsy shop with some adorable stuffed whales.
Dress A Day isn’t really sewing, but a dress. (Nearly) every day!
Er, sorry, elegantmusing.blogspot.com, not elegantmusings.blogspot.com
I posted a comment the other day, but your blog ate it twice and then told me I had already posted. Sooooo. I don’t remember what I said, but the link to the forums is bad. Sorry. http://forums.sensibility.com
Washington? No. We love New England waaay too much. Us living in Fargo almost killed my folks. I’m sure Washington would do them in. Ever been to New England??? : )
Janel ~ I’m not certain what happened on that, but it marked those comments for me to moderate. Normally I only moderate them when someone comments for the first time. Anyway, thanks for the link – I hadn’t tried the other one yet, so I’ll try this one.
It is important to be close to family (which is why it’s good for us to be here). If I ever have a reason to be in New England, I’ll look you up. 🙂
Thanks to everybody. I’ll know more next week whether I’ll be able to do any sewing anytime soon for us OR if I’ll be working on costumes for the musical Little Women.
So I went and registered at the sensibility forum and tried to start looking around. Then I realized: I don’t really get how to navigate forums, and I’m not certain I want to put the effort into learning. 🙁
It’s not that hard. Think about the learning curve to blogging and how much you love it. ; )
What I most often do is click on “Today’s Posts.” Right now there are a bunch of projects that the gals have made. There will either be photos or personal blog links.
You can do it! : )
