Encouraged by Wendy’s comment on lifestyle segmentation, I have decided to dress up a little more for live theatre performances, out of respect for the actors.
For Opening Night tonight I’m planning to wear the LBD with beaded neckline, with white embellished bandana. The show is set in Texas, after all.
Tomorrow we have two shows, which means I will be on my feet alot, and the first one will be a matinee heavily attended by children, so I’m planning to wear this outfit I was wearing the day I posted about wearing red & brown without looking like a blood clot.
With the temperature expected to be 90, I won’t be needing the white jean jacket. The top underneath is the red & white one I posted when I was talking about being prepared for the 4th of July and other predictable events. Didn’t we decide it’s handy to have something western on hand every now and again?
Sunday afternoon it’s expected to be about 95 degrees. I haven’t decided what I’ll be wearing, but it’ll probably be a skirt.
I’ve noticed as of late that women are wearing brown shoes with black clothing…has that old fashion faux pa been thrown out the window?
And also, did you ever read Alligators, Old Mink, and New Money?
(by Alison and Melissa Houtte)
She describes many of the outfits she wore to important events. It was a fun, light read (from the library).
Bonnie, if I had them, I’d wear silver shoes with this outfit. But I haven’t found any yet. If I was wearing this dress without the bandana thing, like I did this time last year to another show, I would just wear black shoes, but my only black shoes are pumps. These wedges, I concede, are a compromise, but the lighter brown makes them more versatile.
I’ll have to look for that book at the library. thanks, it sounds like fun! 🙂
Oooh, yes, you *must* find some silver shoes!
I feel the need to thank you for being willing to dress up for the performers. 🙂 Even just a little bit is nice – it makes the performers feel like they’re doing something worthwhile, instead of something the crowd slouched in to see on a whim. 🙂
Silver shoes. Ooooh. I tried some mirror finish silver Prada shoes on for fun yesterday. They were undeniably hot! (Bright patent would be mighty fine with that dress as well.)
That dress is perfect for your figure, Rebecca. So elegant! And the bandana — what a fun touch!
Thanks for your kind words and the link. (I had to go look up what I said! 😉 )
You look so cute!
Good luck to all the performers! (Especially your daughter — I’m assuming this is the play she is in.)
I forgot to say that the reason I randomly mentioned that book was because with one of her outfits she wore brown shoes with a black dress, or vice versa.
Love the LBD with the banana accessory! The other outfit will be great for a matinee too.
I’m with the other gals — silvery shoes would be HOT!
