I know that I once said I don’t play memes but the Bargain Queen asked so nicely, how could I resist?
There’s an internet meme circulating called ‘five things you didn’t know about me’. Here’s how it works:
- someone tags you,
- you post five things about yourself that you haven’t already mentioned on your blog,
- you tag people you’d like to know more about
Since I typically try to keep things positive here on the blog, I thought I’d use this opportunity to share some personal DON’Ts from my style idiom:
- I don’t like black. Often I will use a charcoal heather (we call it “dandruff black”) and accent with black, as in a belt or black velvet collar.
- Metal allergies prohibit most fashion jewelry. I wear mostly gold and/or pearls.
- In addition, I don’t care for gemstone jewelry that is accented with diamonds. I don’t like the different foods on my plate to touch each other, either.
- Life in the west is all about driving, so I prefer to have my shoes solidly on my feet. No backless shoes here.
- While my accent style is indeed casual, functional and sporty, hoods just get in the way.
A bonus: my weakness is wanting to be popular. Tending to overcompensate for that could cause me to snooze through opportunities to promote the blog.
In random order, I tag: Wendy, Elleabelle, Jenn, Danielle, Tessa, and HolyMama!
I wanted to tag Julie, but she’s busy — the Coutorture site is under construction today. (How much better can it get?) I, for one, am pretty excited; with my recent switch behind me, I resolve to get more involved in my fashion community this year.
An off-topic comment: Have you seen January’s In Style magazine Rebecca? There are a few pages on dressing for your shape using 4 basic body shapes (if I remember correctly, and it is quite possible I don’t).
I have only seen the cover, at the grocery store. It looked intriguing.
Occasionally I will buy an In Style magazine. I have a weakness for magazines, but I don’t like to spend the money. There’s always the library, though.
Done! And I love the new blog. 🙂
I like In Style, so I sometimes pick it up at the supermarket. Like a reward if I don’t impulse buy food. Then I take it to the physio clinic I go to and the staff there read it before putting it out for the clients.
I thought of you instantly when I came to the article.
I just finished mine!!! How fun!
I also laughed about the food thing…I don’t like my food to touch either, and I eat one food at a time. i.e., all the vegetables at once, then the rice (or pasta or potatoes) and then the chicken (or fish or steak.) I don’t mix and match my food!!
Well, I will do it, but not until this evening! Check out my blog to see why!
I can see how being allergic to junk jewelry would definitely work in your favour — hubby can’t buy you the cheap stuff now, can he?
I’m lucky enough to be allergic to most detergents, so Mr BQ does a lot of the sudsy housework and I stick to decorating, organising and neatening.
I’m also unfortunately allergic to cashmere tho. Now that really isn’t fair!
No cashmere? Bummer!
You’re right about the jewelry. He likes to buy me nice stuff and it’s much easier to select a pair of earrings that fit than, say, a coat. 🙂
Okay Rebecca, I posted my five. But I didn’t tag anyone. I tagged people last week … I don’t want to wear people out! 😉
OK, I may be a bit late, but I finally got my five up. I have to warn you though, I was in a chatty mood after not posting much last week.
