Do you love getting clothes for Christmas or does it make you cringe? Recently, as I was looking at the back of everyone’s heads in my Sunday School class, I was thinking about some easy ways to choose a color which stands a chance with a gift recipient.
Three to think on:
- 209 very light violet: works well with brightish yellow hair or skin.
- 133 very deep yellowish green: for those with dark hair and pink skin.
- 171 very light greenish blue: consider for those with soft/light coloring.
What color sweater are you hoping for this Christmas?
Cringe is probably my first instinct, unless it is something I have specifically asked for like the boots that my husband purchased me for this Christmas (he didn’t have to lift a finger; I did it all for him, aren’t I kind?). I have to add though that in my family clothes are not usually considered a “gift” as they are a necessity and therefore not frivolous enough for Christmas. I relaxed that “rule” a bit with Katie and might buy her something that is more expensive and in no way a necessity! (like the snowboarding clothes I have on layaway for her right now)

How nice of you to help your husband with his Christmas shopping!
I received notice today that the belt my husband bought me for my birthday has shipped. Yay! Now I will have a black “jean belt”.
Great birthday belt!
As Little Miss Hard to Fit, my preference is actually for gift certificates. But were I to pick a colour and style for a gift sweater this year it would be a dark gray sweater dress …
Y’know, I have been thinking about sweater dresses, but that’s probably as close as I will get, given my own figure challenges.
Love dark gray, though. My favorite gray is kind of a deep pewter. I think that’s the gray of the ring around edge of my irises.
My sister was kind enough to give me a gift certificate for my birthday. Lately, though, I’ve been having trouble getting around to shopping.
I don’t like to receive clothing for gifts. I wouldn’t mind a gift cert to Eddie Bauer though! I don’t usually buy clothing for Xmas either, but sometimes will pick a shirt for the boys. Never for my daughter. NEVER!
Books are much safer!

Like you, Rebecca, I favour the darker, richer grays. The lighter ones wash me out.
But I’ll agree with Jody, too — books are good!
