Event: Relaxed Meeting in the Great Northwest

Notable in Great Northwest style is the overwhelming leisure character of what most people wear. (And lest you think this is a youth-driven thing, I get the most peer pressure to dress down from people 5-25 years older than me.)

Sometimes when I think of the group I will be with, my desire to make them comfortable overwhelms my desire to be seen as stylish. Is that such a bad thing?

This weekend my hero & I are attending a “Ministry Retreat”, held at a Best Western Motel. Activities include:

Two things complicate my wardrobe decisions for this event. In the past, it’s been really warm Friday night and cold Saturday. Or was it the other way around? And it’s a VERY northwestern group. As in, we may be the only ones in the group who have to concern themselves with buying meat that isn’t cloned; the rest either grow or hunt theirs.

So the first outfit you see pictured here, which originally appeared in the first post I did on posting my outfits prior to events, is what I am thinking about wearing tomorrow night. For Saturday, I may choose this sweater, from my fashion lab on jeans tucked into knee-high boots. Which is looking really good to me right now, with the white stuff lightly falling outside my window.

  1. Rebecca, I must say, I love that I can see the pictures and the comment box on the same page in WordPress!!

I think that the first outfit is quite smashing as that top adds to a long lean look with the dark wash jeans.

We have been wearing transitional clothes a great deal here with unseasonably warm temperatures. Tomorrow it will be 15 degrees C above the normal high!

  2. That is a good point. For this type of a blog, that will be a real advantage (God knew even when I didn’t).

I will probably wear the first outfit tomorrow night and then the sweater and jeans, but without the boots on Saturday. Packing light!

An aside: if my husband can get off a little early we may go swimming at the hotel. We can check in as early as 4. That would be nice, it’s been so windy here I’ve been wimping out early on our walks.

  3. I LOVE the very casual attire of the Pacific NW. I am a Texan, but I wasn’t an all made up kind of Texas girl. I was probably one of the plainer ones in Texas, but I sometimes felt glamorous in Portland when I just did myself up a bit, LOL.

By the way, I think that Christian fashion blog podcast would be awesome. . . ; )

  4. Jennifer, that’s funny! I’m originally from Portland, although I don’t live there now. Just shaving your legs could make you glamorous there! lol
