Thanks! She did a good job. She didn't get the part she wanted, but she did get a part in the ensemble. I think she'll have fun.

The odd part is, while we've never noticed anyone ever singing that song for auditions in the past, she had another girl in her very set (they do sets of 10 and there are around 100 total auditioning) sing the same song. On top of that, her very good friend who did get the part she kinda wanted, sang it also!

Oooh I hope your daughter pulled off the audition and the song! Whenever I am needing a little extra boost or just need to perk myself up, I pretend I am Maria leaving the Abby and sing "I Have Confidence!" Break a leg! :)

Sarah - I noticed a similar "cluttered" thing recently when I tried to wear a necklace and larger earrings with a layered-up outfit. When I changed the earrings for the small gold hoops I was fine.

You know, ladies, I didn't really say that I had somewhat of a purpose behind the audition song question. My daughter is actually auditioning for that show this week. Unfortunately, Karen, she is unable to use songs from the show, otherwise "In My Own Little Corner" would be a perfect choice for her voice and abilities; when she took an auditioning class, that was actually the song the teacher selected for her. However, interestingly, when I told her about your suggestions, Sarah, she said "I Have Confidence" was one she was considering, and now that is the one she has decided to use. :)

Karen - you know what I have been wanting? One of those pink and brown pearl combos. I like the peacock blue ones they have now too. I suppose there's never any shortage of things to want. And my husband does like to buy me nice jewelry for occasions. For Christmas, I got a long, two-tone (brown/light taupe) silk scarf!

Joy - I think that's awesome that you play the tuba! With that much shiny gold brass, who needs accessories? ;)

Rebecca - Thanks for sharing the stories behind the favorites.

The way you've grouped them is also helpful, as I'm trying to figure out how to sort out my own favorites. It doesn't make sense to put together storage plans, until I know what I'm keeping and wearing.

Shari - thanks for the link to Already Pretty. I'm adding her to my bookmarks.

As for the audition, I'm not so much the singer, so I'll be going for a spot in the orchestra pit. Just wondering... could I count the Tuba as an accessory?

I want to be Cinderella singing, "In My Own Little Corner." I love that song! Cinderella fantasizes about being different exotic women in her private world...It's all about dressing for how you feel at any given moment, or stage in your life!

Rebecca. Thank you for sharing your beautiful collection with us! I think you're a tough fashion nut to crack, but it's clear you are sentimental, like the classics, are classy and picky.

You could have so much fun with pearl combos, like your crystal twist. I also think you'd love freshwater pearls if you gave some a shot. I have these leverback earrings, from which drops a beautiful pink "petal" pearl. I wear them so much. They bring light to my face. Grey pearls could work for you too.

I like accessories, but I try to limit how many I wear at any given time. My Mom can pull off a lot of jewelry, but on me I just feel cluttered. My everyday go-to jewelry are round cut cubic zirconium earrings. They are nice and shiny and some people think they are real!

I would definately be Cinderella, my all time favorite! And for my song, I think I would choose to sing "I Have Confidence" from The Sound of Music or sing "All I Ask of You" from The Phanton of the Opera! :)

I guess I'd try for the Step-mother or one of the ugly step-sisters - especially the goofy one. That would really test my acting ability, don't you think?

I'll have to work on the song, would a list be OK? At 6 degrees cold and 6 inches of new snow, White Christmas is near the top for sure. On the other hand, we watched The Wizard of OZ last night and Janel's choice is tough to beat, also.

I checked out that "must have" list in the link to Already Pretty. I very much agree with her black dress analogy. But the rest? ewe. I would only wear her pearl and black pump recommendations for Tier 1. It gets sketchier after that.

It always amazes me what people have on their "everyone" must own list. Maybe I'm just getting old and don't care what people think? Maybe I'm too much of a rebel to begin with? Maybe not everyone fits in the same mold and folks need to accept that? Maybe I'm being too picky? I find I'm more drawn to colors and proportions these days. It doesn't matter how much bling you have it your proportions are off.

Your style is so different than mine. I don't have much to offer. But you know I love pearls. :)

I'd be Cinderella, of course! lol Song? hmmm... "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"

"Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me."

Yeah, that works.

It is not too surprising that the shiny, crystal-ish things are best with your coloring. I bet you'd look especially nice in silver necklaces and earrings, like the hoops. How about polished glass--or even lucite?

I am exactly the opposite. All of my favorites are muted in some way--brushed silver, gold with etched patterns that cut the shine a bit, rough turquoise stones, and so on.
