I love that trench coat on you — very flattering from the back. I have a very similar build to yours (5′ 7″ 124 lbs) with a long torso and shorter legs. I find coats that hit just above the knee and flare out a bit, like your trench, look good and really dress up an outfit. I also like jackets that hit at my hip bone, but they have to have seaming that nips in at the waist or I look boxy!
Can’t wait to see how your makeover progresses. I loved Christopher’s book and have changed a few things to make me look younger (just turned 50). One of the biggest was going to pink lipstick vs. the red tones I used to wear and that alone made a big difference.
Thanks for the input, Jean! And thanks for bringing up the lipstick thing. I have never liked lipstick, and my husband detests red lipstick, so I don’t have to make that adjustment - just need to find a lipstick that works. My skin is so fair it doesn’t take much to look just hokey on me.
That one makeover in the book, and on his website, with the woman who went from the almost black lipstick to the neutral pink was stunning, wasn’t it? She looked scary in the before picture, but she could have been a model or super-star in the after pics!
It stuns me that she was walking down the street looking like that - she looked so harsh and hard.
If you’re not much a a lipstick person try either a matte shade or lip gloss for a sheerer look in a light pinkish shade.
