Rebecca- thank you! that is the absolute best answer and one I can use! It didn't start with "what skin tone are you?" I so appreciate the match the rim around your iris approach, THAT I can do!
I am somewhat afraid of color, I am afraid I will not do it correctly. Thanks for giving me a little bit of bravery!

Another question, can you wear make-up that blends so well that no one can tell you are wearing any? If so, why wear it? I know you want make-up to look natural but is there such a thing as make-up that is TOO natural?

First about that church group from Kansas - whoa! What on earth can they possibly be thinking? How sad that they have no compassion...

And those balloon dresses (!!) - great gravy - how do they sit down :::giggle::: But I sure admire the creativity!

bonnie - it's not immediately obvious, is it? Our children were all born, and the surgery performed, B.C. Although we have had the physical condition rectified to the degree the doctors are able, that is never a sure fix - especially when it's been over 10 years.

For all you hear about the blessings of a child after having a reversal, we know a number of couples whom God has not blessed in that way. Some are active in adoption, others not. At least one couple we know (where she was the one who had the surgeries) has had a subsequent pregnancy that didn't make it.

Wendy - Thanks for the tip. If I decide to go department store, I will definitely consider Clinique. It's so hard when you go in there, because you have to decide which line to go to before you even decide what to look at. I generally go to Bobbie Brown, although my eye shadow which I like (it's nice and shimmery too) is MAC.

For the price, though, and how long they last, I'm leaning toward seeing what I can find from ELF that works for me.

bee: the picture is a link directly to the product, here's the home page: Home Page. When I first learned about E.L.F. they were only available online, to my knowledge, but now our local Target carries them! I try to keep updated sales listed on my "shopping" page.

Kristine - I probably have enough thoughts on this to do a whole post, but let me start by saying I've never seen you wearing stupid looking makeup. (There are people I could not say that about.) I think the key to finding makeup that doesn't look like it's just sitting on top of your face lies in blending with the underlying skin tones. And I think those are caused by the hemoglobin colors, that is the reds and oranges and even purples.

So, they color of your gums or the tip of your finger when you pinch it, your tongue or your lips when they get chapped are all good for inspiration for lipstick. For eye shadow, a good basic color scheme would be your eye color with liner the color of the rim around your iris. Blues and purples are good on brown eyes, too. Your coloring is pretty deep, so shades (darker)are better than tints (pastels).

Do you have Rite Aid where you are? They have a wonderful return policy on makeup, designed to discourage people from testing it out in the store: you can return anything you don't like.

For foundation and concealer I have not been brave enough to try drug store makeup. ;)

That was pretty much a post, wasn't it?

Rebecca,
I just received those balloon dresses in an email and thought they were very creative!! Not something I would wear of course. HAHA
Thanks for linking to me, if you ever want to do a QF testimony please let me know and I will link to you or even let you do a guest post on my blog. If I was still in town I would definitely let you come help me clean out my closet! You want to travel here to do it????

Here is a question for you....
I have the hardest time picking colors of make-up, I am lost! Can you give some pointers?

You're a quiverfull-er? I never would have guessed. Those balloon dresses are very strange. They do something to the shape of each girls body, not bad, just, smoother, I think.
