Did You Get Clothes for Christmas?
I learned something about my hero this year: ever since he was a little kid, a gift of clothing was sure to disappoint. For me, it’s the other way around. I remember vividly one Christmas when I was a (big) kid receiving ALL the pieces of a coordinate set. I was thrilled! These days it’s rare for anyone to even attempt to buy me anything wearable.
This Christmas, though, the prize goes to my mother for buying me a light-weight, ivory, safari-style jacket. She says she thought it would match my hair. 
Not only does it match my hair, and many of my summer clothes, it FITS!
(Which reminds me that the juniors department can be a resource for me for jackets; both in terms of size, since I usually need a 2 in Misses, but a Juniors Medium will work; and price, since Juniors stuff tends to be more affordable. The only trouble is shopping the Juniors department: it wears me out! One, we are often subjected to unbearable music, sometimes several of them competing, and two, it’s tiresome sorting through so many trashy offerings to find the good stuff. Like my new jacket.)

Oh I love to get clothes for Christmas. I give my mom a list, so I usually get stuff I like. This year I got trouser jeans that I really wanted. And a pair of cute flat shoes. And Hubs got me boots. Then I went out and bought a sweater with Christmas money.
In my opinion, the only thing that tops clothes under the tree is jewelry.

I got my mother a pair of work/dress pants for her birthday (which is right around Christmastime) and she actually loved them and wanted to go back to the store for more. It was amazing, just because she is very picky and herself has trouble buying pants, and of course it is difficult to buy clothes for others. But I think that if you really pay attention and know the person well, and give it some thought, giving clothes to others can work. But, you know, you should always include a gift receipt whenever possible just in case.
My parents give me a sweater every year, with about a 50% success rate. This year it was a zipper cable cardigan in ivory; I’ll certainly use it, although I probably wouldn’t choose it for myself. My dh gave me a wonderful softshell ski jacket in a gorgeous shade of plum! That will definitely get a lot of wear, but we need some snow!
My mother gives me clothes every year, and hits a home run 9 times out of 10. She has lovely taste and knows what I like. My favorite gifts are clothing!
Sigh. You’re so lucky. When my stepmother buys me clothes or accessories, they are always *all wrong.*
My grandmother got me two pairs of dress pants, a basic white t-shirt, a pale pink cardigan with very flattering diagonal ribbing details, and a green scoop-neck cashmere sweater.
(Actually, she got me a gift card to Old Navy, but that’s what we’re telling everyone she got me)
