Friday Fashion Lab: Long vs Short Hair

mylonghair.JPGrebecca.jpgThis year the day after Thanksgiving, versus last year’s office Christmas party picture. Actually, since this picture was taken, the one with the long hair, I got a trim — and came out looking almost exactly the same! Yay!

Which do you think looks younger? How many years?

  1. Just talking about photos, me I think the long haired photo is very sexy, savvy, confident, platinum blonde. 🙂 You complain that people think you’re much older because of the color of your hair and to me you’re obviously younger in that photo. The short haired photo could be a younger woman, could be an older woman. But what do I know.

  2. Someone said the shorter was funkier, but I think the opposite — I think long grey hair has an inherent funkiness that is also quite elegant. There aren’t many angles you can work that will up both your funky quotient and your elegant quotient in one blow — but long grey hair is definitely one of those things, in my opinion.

And if I may say so… and maybe I shouldn’t… hmm… but every time I look at those pictures, I get this crazed urge to get all Carmindy on you with some lipgloss and eyebrow pencil! hehe. That rich silver hair screams for rosy lips. You have BEAUTIFUL features and fantastic bones! You should rock it, grrrrlfrin.

  3. Lynn – lol, it’s totally okay for you to say those things; I don’t even disagree with you (now if you had said “red lips” or “dark lips”, that would be different.)

I’m working up to the eyebrow pencil. 🙂

I know you meant it nice … and funky and elegant really works for me. If it were not so, I’d be coloring my hair, right?

Thanks so much for joining the conversation!

  4. My initial response is that I like the long hair photo better. But I may just be liking it because it’s straight on. I’m trying to imagine you with a chin length layered bob or a pixie cut. 🙂 But I’m not claiming any special expertise.

I’m going to go for shorter hair next time I get a cut, my only requirement is that I have enough on the sides to partially hide my ears.

Shorter hair is no doubt a lot easier than long hair. So I support keeping it shorter and having fun experimenting with shorter cuts. The only downside is that with shorter hair you do need to get pretty regular cuts.

  5. You nailed it: the upkeep. With it long, I can go every 12 or 13 weeks; with the shorter haircut, that would leave me with alot of “scruffy” time. The long hair picture here was actually taken just before a haircut; after the cut, my hair looked almost the same, just a little re-shaped.

I think the short hair picture of me looks too short – or shorn – to fit my idiom. My hair needs to be slightly wild. 😉

Yes, and about your friend, how old is she?

  7. The short haircut looks age 28 – 32 and the long hair looks like it’s age 45 – 49.
Hmm short hair cut is very confident & flattering impression of energy & the long hair style looks very draining and leaves the impression of soft & fragile.

  8. oooh! I just read the info & realized it’s your picture & it’s only a year apart?!

Stick with the short hair, you look very young & gorgeous with the short hair, may feel different short but at an instant glance I thought it was two different people & definitely more attractive & higher energy level with the short hair.

    You look very good!
