Casual Sandal Option

In my personal style idiom, shoes must be attached to your feet. Which accounts for why, while everyone else has been wearing flip-flops, I’ve been wearing Chacos.

5 years ago, or whatever it was, when I bought them, the rugged soles looked right (remember Doc Martens and all that). Now my eye wants something more refined. Still brown and still firmly attached to my feet, but more delicate looking.

I can still wear my Chacos for strictly leisure wear: hiking, going to the lake, service projects. But whatever I wear everyday has to be able to go three miles.

How do you like these?

  1. Definitely more refined with interesting details. Actually similar in feel to some I just boughtI (Rockport Nala)

On a practical note, I find that if a shoe has a sling back, I want a way to tighten it when it gives a bit with wear.

  2. I like those Rockports if I were going to do slides.

That makes sense that a sling back would need to be tightened; that’s okay, my hero will punch a new hole if I need it. 🙂

  3. Well, erin, thanks for mentioning that. I’ve never had any, but I’m about ready to hit the store.

Actually I learned recently that my daughter’s orange moccasins are born. No wonder she wears them all the time despite the crazy color! (I may have mentioned that she paid $5 for them at Ross Dress For Less.)

  4. Love the look of those sandals! I don’t like flip flops (hate the thingy between the toes) and prefer a more conventional sandal. Those are classy looking.

  5. Okay, I commented before but I guess the computer ate my comment. 🙂 I own a pair of Borns (that I bought on ebay for $10…not quite as much of a deal as your dd’s), and I love them! I’ve walked a long ways in them and my feet never complained a bit. I will definitely buy another pair again (when budget and/or great sales allow).

  6. Rebecca, glad you like the Rockports! 🙂

I don’t know if your hero punching a hole in those shoes will work … they don’t look like they have a buckle. So I’d take them to a good cobbler before I wore them to find out if he could alter them if the elastic stretched out.

  7. You ladies are all very encouraging! I really think I am going to buy them (now I’m in pricing mode – I have a coupon from Eddie Bauer for 20% off). Wendy, that’s a good suggestion.

Maria – I’m so glad you like the site look, and I’m thrilled that you think it reflects my personality better! Thanks!
