The Thinking Blogger Awards

Blestwithsons gave me a Thinking Blogger Award, along with this, er, compliment?

She has made me incredibly shallow and vain and I appreciate it! Kidding, kidding. Actually, she has just done a lot to get me thinking about how I dress. I’m no slave to fashion, but I do like to look good. I will never follow trends, but it is handy figuring out that I’m too short to look right in capris. Now I just need to know what sort of belt I’m supposed to wear (if any) now that I have a cute little waist! Oh Rebecca..?

To show that we fashion bloggers are not all fluff, I shall restrict my selections to the fashion blogosphere. I hereby award The Thinking Blogger to the following:

  • Danielle at final fashion, my first friend in the blogosphere. Right back here is where we met (a picture of the hamburger outfit, on the guy model, is still available at A Hamburger Today.) The good news is that, with the end of her internship, Danielle will be posting more frequently, bringing us thought-provoking concepts such as contrafashion.
  • With the tag-line “Where Plato and Prada Meet”, Almost Girl, the personal blog of Coutorture’s co-founder Julie Frederickson, is a no-brainer for a thinking award (did you catch that? no-brainer/thinking award? He hee). Sometimes, her posts, they leave me wishing I’d completed college.
  • Verbal Croquis. How can someone be so supremely personable and professional at the same time? Am I the only one who has this kind of separated-at-birth-long-lost-best-friend reaction to her?
  • Constantly challenging me in terms of both my style and my blogging, and serving up links I never would have found otherwise, I give The Bargain Queen my fourth Thinking Blogger Award. I can’t wait to see her picks!
  • Finally, the blogger who’s really got me thinking right now: Angie at youlookfab. You see, Angie told me in an email not long ago that I could do better than my Chacos.

Could this be the end of an era for me as well?

  1. Wow. Rethinking the Chaco’s? That’s huge. For me it’s Birkenstocks. I really think Angie wouldn’t approve. But sometimes personal style (ie. “I’m a Birkenstock gal”) wins out. Not to mention comfort! As long as they’re not too beat up I think comfort shoes can make their own fashion statement.

  2. I agree, Jennifer. The question, because the Chacos still have plenty of life left in them, is whether I buy a second pair of Chacos and wear the old ones for leisure still, or whether I buy something else and still wear the Chacos some.

Now that we are beginning to see more shoes with straps to hold them on in back, I may be able to find something a little nicer that I like.

    More to come, I’m sure!

  3. I gotta say that my big project has been to replace all of my uncomfortable shoes and only buy what I can walk miles in on concrete comfortably *but* I still want them to look good. I could never get my mind around you and those Chacos. The only thing they go with is trail mix. 😀 Angie is a *good* friend.

  4. Vildy, you are a good friend, too!

Of course, we’re pretty granola out here in The Great Northwest.

    LOL
